I was invited by the Miles City Public Library to speak about my book on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at 5:30pm. This date also happened to be close to the anniversary of the crash which occurred 86 years ago on Sunday, June 19, 1938.

My presentation focused on Frank Merrifield, a Miles City resident from about 1910 to 1938, and engineer of the doomed Olympian. I was excited to see a standing-room-only crowd at my presentation, including a dozen members of the Haughian family which plays such a big role in the story. Dan Haughian Jr. led the rescue of at least 50 passengers stranded on the rooftops of the train cars partially submerged in the raging waters of Custer Creek.

A hearty thank you to the Miles City Library and to the Montana Historical Society for arranging this event.
